About Calamity Peak Lodge
In these difficult economic times Calamity Peak Lodge is an outstanding lodging bargain. We have modern, very clean 1 & 2 bed units, including some with additional sofa beds and most with kitchens--all at very reasonable rates.
Because we are such a good value, we have a high percentage of return guests, including family reunions. Our lodge house (unit 8), with a washer and dryer, a spacious, fully equipped kitchen, dining room, and a commodious living room, is an ideal hub for family reunions.
We are close to all major attractions in the southern Black Hills. The scenic route from Calamity Peak Lodge to Mount Rushmore - including time to feed the donkeys and take a picture of Mount Rushmore framed by a tunnel - takes a little over an hour. The quicker route takes about three quarters of an hour. We are minutes from Custer State Park, Crazy Horse Monument, Wind Cave National Park, as well as great hiking and horse-back riding.
The Mickelson Bike Trail Extension from the city of Custer to historic Gordon Stockade and beautiful Stockade Lake runs in front of our property. Our facility also borders the Black Hills National Forest with French Creek (where gold was first discovered in the Black Hills) meandering through our property.
Deadwood, Sturgis, Spearfish Canyon - the heart of the northern Black Hills - is a little over an hour's drive from Calamity Peak Lodge.
We have free Wi-Fi internet access and satellite TV in all our units.
We welcome you to consider our Lodge for your stay. We are sure you will enjoy our friendly, courteous service.
Our 2012 season is May 1 – October 31.
